OpenAI is rolling out a new "personality" feature on the ChatGPT web app in phases worldwide. By default, ChatGPT is upbeat and flexible, but you can switch to:
Cynic: adopts a critical, sarcastic tone—ideal if you’d rather skip the endless compliments.
Robot: delivers information bluntly and with maximum efficiency.
Listener: offers a thoughtful, supportive presence.
Sage: brings a nerdy, enthusiastic flair to every exchange.
To try the feature, you need to click on the profile icon and then select "Customize ChatGPT" . Then, you can select the personality and make other changes to ChatGPT . This feature is still rolling out, and it may take time to show up.
OpenAI is also piloting a “Study Together” mode that guides users through learning by offering step‑by‑step explanations, breaking down complex problems, and even testing knowledge with quizzes—ideal for test prep or mastering new topics.
In addition, the Advanced Voice feature—powered by GPT‑4o—is now available on the web for Plus, Team, Enterprise, and Edu subscribers. It enables real‑time, expressive voice conversations in your browser, complete with a choice of nine characterful voices.
This allows users to have real-time conversations with ChatGPT while doing tasks like shopping, planning, writing, and brainstorming.
